Always being a massive comics fan when i was a kid (funny pages comics, not the substantially geekier superman vs. xmen vs. having friends type of comics), i used to love Fox Trot and Calvin and Hobbes. As i grew older, fox trot got progressively stupider and more childish and Calvin and Hobbes' bill watterson retired, so without him obviously the comics sections has become a frustrating shitshow that drives comic fans to sites like The Comics Curmudgeon (Caution: requires time and patience) and allows someone to get paid rather than burned at the stake for creating Family Circus. Anyways, i ran into this memory-lane list at "work" today and i realized how much i missed Watterson's surprisingly sophisticated and still funny comics and also how well drawn and SO MUCH BETTER they are than anything in the newspaper now (bill keane, go fuck yourself). calvin is a little fucker and that still cracks me up, but i understand so much more of the stuff that i used to skip because there were too many big words that dont belong in a kids book. Both old fans and people who only read comics on sundays because of the bright colors should go check out The Top 25 Calvin and Hobbes cartoons and then immediately become fans (my favorites of those listed are the playing doctor, deer hunting, and coffee table ones)
sorry for writing so much, i was feeling expressive. back to the music and videos in a jiffy!
